Silk is a born in Canada academic. Silk was raised in Fredericton. Silk is the daughter of Peter who was an academic as well as Ilkay Silk, an acclaimed actor, director, producer, playwright, educator, and Director of Drama at St. Thomas University. Anna recalls her mother's work and attending play rehearsals. Silk had a number of commercials in which she appeared as a child. Silk completed her studies at St. Thomas University with an Associate of Arts degree in 1997. Theatre St. Thomas has produced two productions in the beginning: Seven Menus and The Kitchen. Silk was able to move out of Toronto in 1999 to Los Angeles in the decade after 1999. Seth Cooperman is her future husband, who she first was introduced to during her time in Los Angeles at an Actors' workshop, in 2007. Following their engagement in 2008, they tied the knot in 2009. In Fredericton on 10 April 2011, after her change to Judaism they renewed vows during a Jewish marriage ceremony.
